On Tuesday, September 9, at the Malba, Dr. Mallea introduced and moderated the panel Unique Artistic Legacy, alongside Larisa Andreani, President of Andreani and Fundación arteba, and Facundo Gómez Minujin, President and Senior Country Officer for J.P. Morgan Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia.
The Unique Artistic Legacy panel focused on how collecting fosters community, identity, and cultural value: from personal passion to policies aimed at expanding audiences and long-term corporate projection.
As introducer and moderator, Eduardo Mallea presented art as a passion that becomes a life project, referencing the ever-growing Mallea-Perazzo Collection. He guided the debate around three core questions: why collect, how to begin with discernment, and what role organizations play in attracting new audiences.
From the institutional perspective, Larisa Andreani outlined arteba’s initiatives to nurture and expand collecting: Club arteba (a community of experiences with artists and galleries), Mi Primera Obra in partnership with Banco Santander (supporting first acquisitions in installments and in pesos), and the Premio Pinamar (driving a corporate public art collection that increases visibility).
From a corporate standpoint, Facundo Gómez Minujin reflected on the global tradition of J.P. Morgan’s collection—with roots in the Morgan Library in New York—and its presence in offices worldwide. He stressed that buying art is a matter of faith: conviction and time weigh more than price expectations, and its impact is also measured through internal culture and support of local scenes.
The panel concluded with an operational synthesis: discernment, community, and continuity. The combination of personal drive, institutional strategy, and corporate power turns collecting into a tangible legacy for the cultural scene.
